Peristera takes its name from the mourning dove. Its scent is partially inspired by crop milk (parent doves produce crop milk, a secretion used to feed their young during their first days of life). This act of nourishment recalls storge, the ancient Greek term for instinctive, natural affection. Unlike romantic love, storge is not chosen or pursued. Perhaps 'Peristera' is a tale of storge, love's most devoted, unconditional form.
