Thinking Stool .2 juxtaposes the act of stillness against the backdrop of New York— ever-accelerating. In these fast-paced environments, slowness becomes a luxury. Wenjüe Lu seeks to celebrate this rare opportunity by encouraging viewers to physically slow down and… sit. Drawing on Confucius’ teaching to “review the old as a means of realizing the new” (溫故而知新), the piece embodies repetition as renewal.
